Online Income for Introverts

AdSense is probably the perfect income source for an introvert.  You have no contact with customers and you don't have to deal physical goods.  The income gets wired into your bank account once a month and life is good.  If you enjoy writing and have something to say it can generate a very nice income.  I will be publishing more about AdSense and other online income sources as time goes by.

This post however, is about online income in general and why I think it opens new income opportunities for introverts.  Before the rise of the internet, income generation required direct contact between buyer and seller.  It also involved the exchange of physical goods. Both of these activities have some significant downsides, and not just for introverts.

As I introvert myself I feel like I always loose in any situation that requires negotiation.  I pay to much when I buy and I don't charge enough when I sell.  I know other buyers and sellers expect, even enjoy, the negotiations.  I don't.  Over the centuries I am sure many introverts have "sucked it up" and learned to deal with this problem.  If that is what you have to do to feed your family that's what you do.

Generating income from physical products has some other issues, even if you are the greatest sales guy the world has ever seen.

If you are Selling Stuff you need inventory.  "You can't sell from an empty cart." is a very old saying.  Inventory requires space.  Depending on what you sell, the space many need to be heated, secured against two and four footed thieves and allow for efficient loading and unloading.  It also helps to be near transportation and in an easy to find location.  All that costs money; a lot of money.  Even worse, you usually have to spend that money before you have actually sold anything.

Extroverts are at a severe disadvantage when it comes to building an online income!  Extroverts need frequent contact and interaction with people.  They are not going to be happy sitting home for hours, days, weeks writing content for their websites.  Many extroverts solve this problem by hiring others to do the work for them while they focus on direct sales and marketing which they do well.  If you are an introvert working for one of these people you need to be asking yourself if it isn't time for a change.  Maybe you could do better working for yourself, even if that would not have been the case with the old system.
